Annota holds the Industrial Court dismissal awards published since 2003, each summarised under seven headings.
Find an award
- Browse by ground: pick a ground of dismissal in the Termination Index (on a phone, it is the Awards home screen), then an award from the list.
- Search: type a name, an award number, or describe a situation in plain English in the search box. On a computer or tablet it is in the bar at the top; on a phone, it is at the top of the Awards home screen.
- Narrow the list: while browsing a ground, use Allowed / Dismissed and Filters above the list (years, court, backwages, reinstated). “Clear” puts everything back. A search shows the closest awards instead, with links to the grounds they sit under.
Read an award
- Each award is summarised under the same headings, from Type of dismissal to Legal summary, with a Bottom line at the end. Each point shows the paragraphs it comes from; tap “The court’s words” under a heading to read the award itself.
- “Full award” opens the court’s own award (PDF). Always read it before relying on a summary.
- Spot a mistake? Use “Report a mistake” on the award and we will check it.
Ask the assistant
- Tap the round button at the bottom right of any page, or “Ask about this award” on an award. It knows what is on your screen.
- It answers questions about Malaysian HR and industrial relations from the awards, names the awards it relies on, and can open the list or the letter you need.
- To give it a letter or an email, tap the paperclip: a PDF, Word or text file, an email or a photo, up to files at a time. It is used for that conversation only, except on a project’s page, where its text is kept in the project.
- It can be wrong and it is not legal advice. Check the awards it names before relying on an answer.
What the words mean
- Claim allowed
- The employee won: the court found the dismissal was without just cause or excuse.
- Claim dismissed
- The employer won: the dismissal was upheld, or the court found there was no dismissal.
- Termination Index
- Every award, sorted by why the employee was dismissed.
- Back pay (backwages)
- Wages the court orders the employer to pay for the time since the dismissal, usually capped at 24 months.
